Why Applications are Superior to Resumes.

We believe that even if you have a resume, there are a number of reasons you should make each applicant for employment fill out an application. First of all, a resume is not a good predictor of future job performance. While a resume does give you a feel for an applicant’s background and experience, frequently they are not the work product of the applicant. Often family members or professional resume writers are involved in the crafting of an applicant’s resume. Whether the applicant, family member or hired professional is sophisticated enough to craft a quality resume tells us precious little about whether the applicant will be a high quality employee. Resumes come in all different shapes and sizes. Often they give us too much information, not enough information or the wrong kind of information. By making each applicant fill out an employment application we get exactly the information we want and need to help us make an informed hiring decision. Furthermore, it gives us an opportunity to see if application is filled out thoroughly and correctly. If an applicant can’t fill out an employment application properly, what are the chances they will be a good employee? — Posted on July 26, 2018
